Social Hall

Saint Gregory the Great

Danbury, Connecticut

The striking architectural style of the 1980’s church called for a uniquely creative architectural language for a proposed addition. Where the curves and movement of the existing church recall LeCorbusier’s Ronchamp Chapel, the addition offers a geometric and orthogonal contrast. This design approach references the simple rectangular tower addition to Frank Lloyd Wright’s strong spiral form at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. A series of simple masses step out to accommodate offices and a social hall.
