TESTIMONIALS: what clients are saying

Tracy & Craig Hoekenga

Owner's of Barrister's Coffee Co. Danbury, CT

We cannot offer a HIGHER RECOMMENDATION than we can for seventy2architects.  The entire team is talented, professional, and just overall great people.  We can not only personally vouch for their work product as can be seen at Barrister’s but more importantly, we can vouch for them as kind, honest and caring people.  Great neighbors, parents, and friends.  We would not hesitate to recommend Maura and Emmanuel for any project that you may have.  They are reasonably priced and the best at what they do.  Throw that kindness factor in there and what more can you ask for!!  Bravo!!

Glori Norwitt

Board of Directors, The Women's Center of Greater Danbury, CT

From the beginning, Maura and her team have been instrumental with the Women's Center project of building a new residential facility, Maura actively listened to staff & our Board of Directors in creating a floor plan that would meet the diverse needs of our employees and clients. She understands our financial limitations and the goal of creating an efficient building. She works seamlessly with the City of Danbury -- meeting with town planners, zoning, and the Mayor's office. We are partway through our project and look forward to completing it with seventy2architects.

Shelley and Ruvan

Lake House owners

We used Maura Newell Juan for the renovation of our Lake House outside Danbury. Maura was excellent in assessing costs, identifying excellent General Contractors, involving engineers to suggest solutions to our design objectives, and working with the Danbury building department to efficiently obtain required building permits. Maura is a truly lovely person and was a pleasure to deal with. We are grateful to Maura for her contributions to our project.

seveny2 is creative and fun to work with! Maura knew what questions to ask and how to find the answers we needed to plan our new office. I am excited to relocate to the new building with a bold and fresh new home for our business that will really stand out for our staff and our clients. Thank you!

I wholeheartedly highly endorse seventy2architects! Our organization is working with them on a project that has shown the depth and breadth of their knowledge on a wide range of areas, from land remediation through design and build! Their guidance and expertise have been invaluable! From our very first meeting with them, we knew we were in the right hands and every step of the way those feelings have been validated! We couldn't be happier clients!

President, Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department, Brookfield, CT

Could not have asked for a better company to work with on the design and layout of our firehouse. A very detailed group of people who get the job done right… the first time. Creative and Inspired Architects to work with and very good management.

Mary Whatley

Fairchild-Nichols Memorial Library, Trumbull CT

Maura and her team have been brilliantly renovating our small public library building. They have kept the charm and warmth of the original building while updating and upgrading the functionality and furnishings. Pieces of furniture have been thoughtfully repurposed saving money that can be spent elsewhere. We are midway through our project and I look forward to 'Phase 2.' I would unreservedly recommend 72 Architects to anyone who asked.

Judith Malin

Residential Interior Renovations

Maura has designed and facilitated two projects for me, one business and the other residential. In both instances, she was consistently professional, creative, available and worked with me to bring my ideas to fruition. I would highly recommend Maura and the seventy2architects team.

Andrea Gartner

Owner Pour Me Coffee & Wine Cafe, Danbury, CT

When I set out last year to realize my dream of creating a fast-fine eatery concept in an urban setting, I was very selective with whom I wanted to work to undertake such a personal and professional project. I am thrilled to have engaged 72Architects! All the firm members contributed to realizing this unique and amazing space and everyone was a pleasure to work with. While I had some very concrete ideas about design and space, 72Architects added valuable insight and design ideas and I feel that together we have up-leveled the streetscape of Downtown Danbury. Thank you 72Architects - I couldn't have done it without you!

Brigid Guertin

Please drive by the Charles Ives Birthplace, on Mountainville Avenue in Danbury, Maura Newell Juan and her firm worked tire! less to guide the first phase of this historic house restoration- a testament to her skills and the skills of the firm!

Lake Waubeeka Association, Temple Renovation Coordinator, Danbury, CT

I am an active developer in new york city but worked on a project in Danbury with seventy2architects. Having worked with many big-name firms in my career, "72" exceeded my expectations on all counts. They were supremely professional, very responsive both in the design stage and to issues during construction, and had a strong design sense but were willing to meld that with my vision for the project. They also have excellent relationships with local builders and suppliers which was key to getting the project done on time and on a budget which is a rarity in this world. All in all, the strongest recommendation!

Joel Becker

President of Torrco, Waterbury, CT

We have used seventy2architects on 6 facilities projects over the last 6 years from renovating a small 7k SF sales branch to the complete makeover of an old 70k SF warehouse that was converted to a modern distribution center. In every case, the work has been innovative, sensitive to cost and function, and reflects the modern look we like in our branches.

We will continue to use them on all our facilities projects.

Matt Bartelme

Modern House Homeowner

Great company! Their team of architects enthusiastically provided concepts and plans for transforming a small drab lake cottage into a modern open floor plan with a second floor that exceeded expectations. After an initial requirement gathering interview, it was no time until we were seeing draft concepts and sample materials so I was very impressed with their timeline and level of quality.

Diane Koenigsberg

Homeowner

85% of construction leads to divorce. (Okay I’m exaggerating a bit.) Maura, Emmanuel, and seventy2architects created a beautiful two-story home, which we love and our marriage survived! We knew nothing about construction, roofs, landscaping, plumbing and the million other details it takes to create a home. They drew a creative plan that integrated the details of our extensive wish list, got us a contractor we loved and took us from an abstract idea to a truly beautiful, comfortable house within budget and on schedule (truly a miracle).

As the house went up and became more real for us, we changed our minds about a number of things. One of the things I truly admired was when our vision conflicted with their original drawing of the house, they were able to take a step back and enthusiastically work with our vision. (And redrew the plans about a thousand times.)

They are truly professional, easy to work with, honest, smart and their creativity blew us away. We look forward to moving into our home and it looks like we’re going to make it to our next wedding anniversary!

Toyotomi USA, Inc. Brookfield, CT

We, Toyotomi USA, Inc., can highly recommend  seventy2 architects, Maura Newell Juan in particular. We couldn’t have been more pleased with their professionalism and performance. We had a major renovation to the office building and warehouse we own in Brookfield, CT. seventy2 architects played a key role in the design, building code compliance, meticulously coordinating the project, and effectively interfacing with our construction manager, engineers, the town Building Inspector, Fire Marshall,  Zoning, and our incoming Tenant for whom the work was being done. seventy2architects helped to make the project run more smoothly. A pleasure to work with. Thanks, Maura!

Chad M. Smith

Owner of Pinot’s Palette, Norwalk and Stamford, CT

Maura and seventy2architects are our ‘go-to’ partners in architecture.  They are professional, extremely efficient, and highly competent.  We have used them for all of our regional franchises, each with its own unique challenges and characteristics. They took those challenges of each space and creatively turned them into strengths.  We couldn’t be happier with the results, which were also aligned with our franchise and brand standards.  Maura was quick to get our concept, carry it quickly to design and delivery.  Indeed, her turnaround time for production work almost seemed to suggest that she had anticipated anything we might have asked.  I would highly recommend seventy2architects for any commercial or residential architectural work.

Scott Thacker, CFM

Facilities Director, Greenwich Academy, CT

“For the last three years, I have had the pleasure of working with Maura Newell Juan of seventy2architects in my role as Facilities Director at Greenwich Academy. We worked with this firm on three projects, each with outstanding results. I recommended them highly and without reservation.

In 2012, Maura designed a great solution to an ongoing problem at the upper school building. Without a vestibule at the entrance, occupants were uncomfortable in the winter and the entrance was a source of great energy loss. Maura designed a vestibule that was a perfect match to the existing architecture. Many have observed that the new vestibule looks like it has always been there.

In 2014, Maura helped us create an amazing new fitness center by reconfiguring existing space in our athletic complex. This resulted in new office space, new locker rooms, a yoga studio, a spin and erg studio, and a fitness center. This project involved a lot of creativity to convert a brick veneer structure with very few windows into an attractive structure with numerous windows and a curtain wall system.

This year, Maura designed a residential renovation at a multi-family dwelling owned by the school. This involved a complete interior gutting and a completely new floor plan. The end result was a space with four beautiful apartments. The
administrators at the school were impressed with how Maura was able to take advantage of every square inch of available space to make the floor plan so much more functional than before, without adding any new square feet.

In all these projects, Maura delivered professional presentations to various town agencies to assist us in obtaining the necessary zoning approvals for the projects. We are a repeat customer because of her professionalism, great designs, and efficient working relationship. I am pleased to be able to provide this recommendation for seventy2architects.

Gregg Brauneisen

Residential Addition

“seventy2architects performed the design work for the residential addition to my home in Danbury.  They did an outstanding job of designing the space.  They took into consideration my goals and given the limitations of my property and the need to conform with the zoning regulations and building codes, designed a beautiful addition to my home that is both aesthetically pleasing and highly efficient and functional use of the space.

I highly recommend seventy2architects for their professionalism and work product.”

David Black

Owner of Electri-Cable Assemblies, Shelton, CT

"After successfully being able to accommodate growth within our company with minor office changes, it had become apparent we were out of space and needed a complete facelift if we were going to keep up with the needs of our company. Additionally, our office space was showing its age, didn’t lend itself to the collaborative environment in which we worked, and didn’t showcase our products well. We interviewed several firms and selected Seventy2Architects because we felt they understood the overall concept and feel we were trying to achieve for the space. Right from the start, Maura was engaged in listening to the needs of the various departments and coalesced them into a unique and vibrant office space. The new space features an open floorplan, several meeting areas/rooms, work areas to showcase our products and seats for future expansion. We are very pleased and wish to thank Maura, Emmanuel, and the rest of the staff for their efforts on our behalf."

Clay Norman

Associate Pastor, Walnut Hill Community Church, Bethel, CT

"Walnut Hill and seventy2architects have worked on two major projects together, one a major addition the other a renovation of an existing facility. From the first interview, seventy2architects have been creative, responsive, and attentive to the needs of the church. The challenges caused by limited church resources have been met with grace and creativity on the part of Maura and Emmanuel resulting in the best possible outcome for the church. It has been a pleasure to work with them and now to call them friends."

Walt Rynkiewicz

Homeowner

"Right off the line, I can say seventy2architects listened to me and came up with a design that exceeded my expectations. Maura's recommendations for a builder to perform the job again were perfect. I am extremely happy with your performance, and will definitely ask seventy2architects to aid in further renovations to my house."

Linda M Bridson

President of Key Marketing Advantage, Newtown, CT

"We were moving to 10,000sq ft of space that had to be completely built out and had no idea what to do. We needed someone to help us through this process and supply a design for functionality and productivity, but also have an elegant and slick agency look. A tall order, but Maura understood immediately how we work and provided a layout for offices and common areas that were spot on. The color scheme for the walls and flooring throughout pulled everything together perfectly. The compliments that we receive from every client that walks through our doors is a testament to Maura's vision."

Thanks for everything!"

David S. Hawley

Homeowner

"When we first sat down with Maura we immediately felt we all had the same vision for our pool house project. As the drawings were developed we happy to see our thoughts and wishes transferred to paper and our dream become reality. Thank you, Maura and staff, for listening to our wants and needs and applying your talents to our successful project!"

Judy Malin

Executive Director, Bethel Visiting Nurse Association, Bethel, CT

“Maura designed office space for us. She worked with us, listened to our ideas, brought in the appropriate experts (e.g. structural engineer), had a good working relationship with the contractor, and assisted us with decorating. In the end, we had the space we wanted on time with minimal hassle. It was a pleasure working with Maura.”

Edward O'Malley

President & CEO, Western Connecticut Federal Credit Union, Bethel, CT

"Just a final thank you for the superb job you did for our Credit Union in the design of our new office at 2 Stony Hill, Bethel, Connecticut. I knew from the minute I met you that you had our interests on the top of your list and the zeal for all of us to succeed. In case you need to use me as a reference, please consider it a done deal! For those of you who might be given this letter, Maura took an old bank space that had not been occupied for years and converted it to a warm new bank branch and administrative office. No small feat because the Credit Union's previous two branches were more than 3 times the square feet that the 2 Stony Hill location offered. My idea was to close 2 offices and open this new location. For many years we can thank Maura for our new home."

Pete Robinson

Senior VP Development, White Peterman Properties, Crown Point Apartments, Danbury, CT

“seventy2architects worked well with a difficult site and program to produce a beautiful and cost-efficient 280 unit apartment complex, skillfully guiding to project through regulatory hurdles to completion. I highly recommend their firm for any work."

Paul Caso

Homeowner

“I have had the pleasure of working with Seventy2Architects since before they were Seventy2Architects! I met the owners when I worked for them at their home. When I learned what they did I picked their brains about a building I wanted to build on a piece of property I had just acquired. The barn/office/apartment, 2200 square feet in all, is gorgeous, functional, continues to meet the needs of my growing business, and produces revenue for me. I couldn’t be happier. It looks 100 years old, the same age as my home, and no one believes me when I tell them I built it in 2006. -But that’s not all. My particular municipality had very stringent regulations for this “accessory structure” Had I drawn plans myself, or hired another firm, I never would have been able to build anything this size. Being represented by such a competent architecture firm, we were able to ‘push it’ quite a bit by using “dormers” to get around size restrictions on the second floor. It’s hard to explain as a layperson, but trust me. They really came through. Maura’s knowledge of the way these regulations are worded alone earned every penny of the very reasonable fees they charged. I have worked with them a half dozen times since and recommend them every chance I get.
